Amudha Mahendiran

Amudha moved around a lot in her early years and finally settled in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where she grew up. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (B.S.) and Florida State University (M.S.). Amudha currently works on federal and state grants focusing on quality improvement in early childhood education programs in the Commonwealth. She provides professional development for teachers and administrators and uses assessment tools to measure and provide feedback for continued improvement. Amudha also works on training and content development for a curriculum at the University of Virginia’s School of Education and Human Development. She is active in national and local
advocacy organizations to support early childhood care and education. 

In addition to her service as a Trustee, Amudha is active in the Highland community through the Parent Association, the Head Start Book Drive, and several other volunteer avenues. Amudha and her husband Gajan moved to Warrenton in 2005 and have three children at Highland: Nithin ’26, Anya ’27, and Shaila ’36.
